CA73 mk2 Channel amp with 3 band EQ + HP-filter
The Vintagedesign CA73 mk2 is a single channel, all class-A microphone and line preamp with 3-band equalizer. The mic preamp is the same 3-stage circuit used in the DMP mk2. Like the DMP mk2, the impedance of the microphone input is switchable between 300 and 1200 ohms. Additionally, the CA73 mk2 has a transformer balanced line level input. The mic input has a gain range of -80 dB to -20 dB in 5 dB increments, and the line input has a gain range of -20 to +10dB. Each channel features a mic/line sensitivity switch, front switches for phantom power, a polarity switch, a 300/1200 ohms input impedance switch, in/out switch for the EQ section, a level control for fine tuning the output level, and a 5-segment headroom indicator.
In the EQ section the mid band and HP filter feature classic inductor based designs renowned for their musical qualities. The new version uses relay controlled gain switching, and the front XLR connector automatically overrides the rear connector when in use. So when you wish to use the front XLR, you don’t need to bother with disconnecting the rear XLR. You can have the rear connector permanently plugged in.
The CA73 mk2 is built with gold plated ELMA switches for selecting gain and frequency selecting, tantalum caps in the signal path, gold plated relays for internal switching, vishay potentiometers in a powder coated steel chassis.
